Have you ever taken a really close look at the works of Rembrandt? At first glance, they look nothing like the work of Dick Bruna, but if you take your time, you’ll see more similarities than you might think. That’s what this book is all about. Take a look! In 2019, it will be 350 years since the death of Rembrandt van Rijn. This will be commemorated with a full programme of activities and special exhibitions to be held in the Netherlands over the course of the year. On 15 February, the exhibition All the Rembrandts of the Rijksmuseum will open at the Rijksmuseum. To celebrate the Year of Rembrandt 2019, Mercis Publishing and the Rijksmuseum teamed up to create the book miffy x Rembrandt, designed by Irma Boom Studio. The book is also available in Dutch.

Biografie

Dick Bruna (1927 - 2017) is een Nederlandse kunstenaar en de geestelijke vader van nijntje. Hij heeft in totaal meer dan 120 verschillende kinderboeken gemaakt. Het werk van Dick Bruna kenmerkt zich door eenvoud, zwarte contouren en felle, levendige kleuren. Die eenvoud geeft ieder kind ruimte om zijn eigen fantasie in te vullen. De boeken van Dick Bruna worden door kinderen over de hele wereld gelezen en zijn in meer dan 50 talen verschenen. Veel illustratoren laten zich inspireren door zijn werk en er zijn intussen al drie generaties opgegroeid met nijntje. www.nijntje.nl
