Please note
- we cannot ship the prize to your home. In-store pick up only. Keep in mind: bikes are not the best means of transport for a buttload of books. We recommend bringing a car and a booklover pall.
How it works
1. Select your store
Select your favorite bookstore:
The English Bookstore (Passage 24, The Hague) | Winkel Den Haag (Passage 11) | Winkel Haarlem
Review the options in the list of books on that page.
All three stores have their own list of options.
Please note that you must be able to pick up the prize from that shop. We don't recommend picking up the prize by bike, unless you have a bakfiets. We cannot send 50 books to your home address.
2. Enter
Click 'deelnemen' to enter the draw**. Select the number corresponding to your answer in the dropdown and hit 'verstuur' to confirm.
On the giveaway page of your shop (you are currently on the giveaway page of The English Bookstore), you can review a list of possible answers. Pick your answer, and remember the number. Click 'Deelnemen' (you need an account for this), select the answer in the drop-down menu (under 'met hoeveel personen kom je?'), and click on 'Verstuur' to submit your answer.

3. Countdown
That's it! We will notify the winner in the first week of January.
You can review your submission in your account.
Want to change your answer?
- Simply cancel it by clicking 'uitschrijven' on the event page or in your personal profile.
- Confirm by clicking 'uitschrijven' in the pop-up.
- Then go back to the event page, and re-enter.
We will randomly select a winner among the correct answers in the first week of 2025. We will contact the winner before januari 7th via the emailaddress you use for your account. If the winner doesn't respond within 5 days, we will select a new winner. If you havent heard from us by January 15th you can safely (and sadly) assume that you didnt win. Do keep an eye on your spambox, though. Or add us to your address book: redactie@devriesvanstockum.nl.

A few highlights:
- The winner is expected to pick up the prize in The English Bookstore.
Unfortunately, we cannot ship the books, even if the winner is willing to cover the shipping costs (the latter due to the fact that this giveaway is primarily intended for our physical store customers). In the event that it is still not possible to pick up the prize, we will have to choose a new winner.
- We take a photo of the winner and their prize during pick up, to post on social media.
- The winner will receive an e-mail in the first week of January
- If the winner is unable to reply within 5 days, the offer expires and we will pick a new winner
- The prize is a random selection by us of 50 books. In other words: you can't choose fifty books yourself.
