Eighteen windows peer into the lives of people figuring it out, catching glimpses of them at various moments — hopeful, reflective, apathetic, nihilistic, numb, and in love. One story follows a single man after a long night of drinking; observant and playful, he heads off to catch the last train home. In another, a tried-and-tested friendship group navigates the awkward aftermath of an inner-circle breakup. Predominantly set in Amsterdam and the surrounding areas, this collection has a unique flavour and a vibrant sense of place, without giving away its secrets.

Over de Auteur

Luke Ambrose is a British expat living in Haarlem. Former journalist turned fiction author, Luke published his first novel Love, Loss & The view From My Window in 2023. But his true love has always been short stories - sharing dozens around Haarlem cafés in plain white envelopes over the last couple of years. In Transit, his latest published work, celebrates this dedication to short stories, focusing on the turbulence and façade of growing up.
